What: Learn to sew a glam halter dress with Gertie! Using my brand new Charm Patterns Lamour Dress, you will learn everything you need to know to create gorgeous fit-and-flare frocks with vintage appeal. 

This lovely halter dress was named for Dorothy Lamour, who starred in many films with tropical flair. Hawaiian dresses and playsuits were coveted tourist souvenirs in the ’40s and ’50s, and today they are highly collectible vintage treasures. Now you can make your own, using some of the best sewing techniques for a beautifully fitted and structured garment. The fully lined dress has underlining and boning in the bodice, princess seams, a center front bust pleat detail, convertible halter straps, and a three-quarter circle skirt with side seam pockets.

You will be custom fit into your bodice muslin by Gertie, and then construction begins! Learn how to underline a bodice for structure, use spiral steel boning in the lining, sew perfect princess seams, make a clean-finished lining/lapped zipper, insert a lapped zipper, make a beautiful narrow hem, and finish it all off with a waist stay. (Whew!) 

If you’ve ever wanted to learn the best techniques for creating perfectly structured dresses, this is the course for you. Please note that this course is suitable for intermediate to advanced sewists who are comfortable working with patterns and have made several garments; feel free to ask if you're not sure if it's right for you. This is a great opportunity to make your first boned garment with expert guidance. 

Supplies: the pattern and some supplies (like steel boning and casing) are included. You will receive a detailed supply list once you are enrolled in the course.
