New Fall Gertie Fabrics!

As you may recall, my first line of retro-inspired apparel fabric hit Joann's stores in March. The response was fantastic, so I now have a fall line arriving in stores as I write. Like the spring collection, fall features vintage-themed prints on apparel-friendly fabrics. For fall, we went a little more rich and jewel-toned and we have some exciting choices: knits and jacquards and flocked chiffons, for instance! Here's a look at the collection, with links to purchase online.

First, a beautiful floral cotton sateen in greys and purples.

Also on sateen, a retro atomic jacks print in both purple/grey and black/white.

I love the drape of rayon challis, and we have some beautiful ones this season. First, a retro rose floral in both blue and black colorways.

I love this faux-stitch floral print on black.

Also on rayon challis is this sophisticated dot pattern.

Gray and Purple Dots Rayon Challis
I adore velvet flocking on fabric, and I knew that would be a must for a fall collection. To start, we have little dresses flocked on blue faille!

Next, flocked poodles and dots (!!!!) on grey chiffon.

Then these lovely rich jacquards in blue/black and grey/black. These have really nice body and a subtle sheen.

Finally, knits! This rose pattern was inspired by an actual '50s dress and it comes in monochromatic red, purple, and grey on a luscious rayon-spandex knit. It has fantastic drape. This fabric is way easier to sew than I anticipated too!

    Your fabrics are great! I really enjoyed getting some of your Spring Collection and I look forward to getting some of these! My favorites rit s are the retro rose florals in both blue and black and both of the flocked materials!, so fun!

    Wow, that dresses print is very nice. I thought they were fans. Can I suggest some good border prints, possibly not the floral kind, but really I am always amazed by the lack of them, everyone loves them, they fetch enormous sums and are hard to find. I think Michael Miller did one but I rarely see them amongst the many thousands of vintage inspired cotton prints.

    I really like this new collection, Gertie. And I am SO glad Joann is carrying more rayon challis. Now if they would only stop burying the non-collection challis in with the Simply Silky polyester prints.

    They're really lovely, Gertie. I got to see many of them up close at the American Sewing Expo, where they were used by the Passion for Fashion contestants in their designs. I love that gray floral sateen and the two jacquards in particular. Congrats on a great fall collection!

    I love the little dresses. Reminds me of a skirt I saw on modcloth. It was Japanese fans on a emerald green background. Joann's doesn't post internationally :(. Let us know if an online supplier happens.

    I love all of the rayon challis prints and I am SO EXCITED about the knits!!! All of the colorways are gorgeous!! New knit dresses for winter! :)

    Thanks so much for being part of making these fabrics available! I collected quite a few of the spring line and have so far made 2 circle skirts with them. Still hunting down one or two fabrics. Looking forward to sewing with these!

    Nice collection! Congratulations! My favourites are the floral cotton sateen and the knits. I'd love to get some of the grey one, I'm sure a top made of it would go with everything. Sadly they don't ship internationally. :(

    Hey! Are the knits light-weight of heavier weight? I'm wondering if they would work for wrap-dresses and tops or if they're thick enough for a stretch pencil skirt.

    I love the challis! I haven't seen any in years!!! I like the cotton sateen too! I told myself I was not going to buy any more fabric until I sewed up my stash of apparel fabrics, but it looks like I am going to give in and buy some from your collection.

      Cynthia, Joann seems to be getting more challis in stock. There have been a few in recent collections other than Gertie's and a few in the Simply Silky collection. Hopefully they will continue to get them in...I see way too much polyester in RTW, and I avoid I for the most part when sewing.

    I love the challis! I haven't seen any in years!!! I like the cotton sateen too! I told myself I was not going to buy any more fabric until I sewed up my stash of apparel fabrics, but it looks like I am going to give in and buy some from your collection.

    My favorites are the poodle dot flocked and the floral knits! I am going to get those knits in each color! Love!
    For you next fabric collection, would you consider making more fabrics in natural fibers like cotton, linen and silk? I love all your designs but would love them even more in my favorite natural fibers.
