Cool news, readers. I've been working on a new series of videos that I'm calling Gertie's Sewing Show. The motto? "Non-stop excitement for the sewing nerd!" I've integrated episode 1 with our slip sew-along. We've filmed ten episodes so far, so there's lots more excitement to come.
Special thanks to Elna, and my amazing group of friends who helped make this happen. More to come! Subscribe to my YouTube channel to make sure you don't miss any episodes.

Awesome Possum! And your violet hair looks so nice against the turquoise background. :)
ReplyDeleteDo you think it would be possible to have some "overhead" shots of your hands when you are positioning things and hand stitching. It's a little tough to see what you're doing at certain points. Other than that suggestion, I am in love with this.
Congrats! That IS exciting news! I like to have podcasts and vlogs on while I sew so I'm delighted to have another awesome show to watch/listen to.
ReplyDeleteAlso... I LOVE that peg board behind you. I've been meaning to get one for my sewing room, but all the brooklyn hardware stores are always "out of stock". :/
My burning question: Is that floor cork? In tiles? I would love to know more about it, and how it feels for standing on a lot (I do most of my not-actually-at-the-sewing-machine work while standing).
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful! Congrats on all of your continued success Gertie. :)
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I'm working but I'm listening to you! I haven't made my slip yet but I'm so excited to get to this part now....
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea! I love this!
ReplyDeleteExcellent. Cant wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff, Gertie! You do need your own jingle though ;) xx
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tilly--- you DO need a Gertie Jingle----- and a catchy intro, like a mashup of Bewitched and Mission Impossible! SO excited for your continued success!
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful news! I'd love to do some educational videos as well, but am not as technical or photogenic as you. Looking forward to them :)

ReplyDeleteSubscribing now! Horray! Love videos, they give that extra little bit of help when you need it. Can't wait to make a slip.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your new show. I was tooling about YouTube after watching your show and found this little gem - thought you'd enjoy it! http://youtu.be/-E1j9DxEEUw
ReplyDelete(just so you don't think you'll run into something weird - it's a 1948 video called Pattern for Smartness.)
DeleteThat is fabulous!! Of course I will subscribe :D
ReplyDeleteExcellent! This is so helpful. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI loved watching this! It's really helpful and clear, and you and your sewing room look so cute. Can I ask who makes the wrist pincushion you're wearing?
ReplyDeleteGertie, wonderful! I wish you much success.
ReplyDeleteAfter 9:00 why don't you just change the order and sew the lace to the slider first? It wouldn't be tricky then. :)
ReplyDeleteJust a question: Could you use a zipper foot when sewing on the ring to be able to get close to the ring and not hit the ring itself? Just wondering because my handsewing is not as secure sometimes as I would like! Thks
ReplyDeleteWill you be doing a sew along for your swimsuit pattern? My plan is to tackle it this summer, but I've never sewn one before! Excited/nervous!
ReplyDeleteThis is useful and congrats!
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be watching to bring up my techniques.
