You may recall that
I'm a huge fan of
The Great British Sewing Bee. I discovered it on YouTube in its first season and became so obsessed with it that I insisted on talking about it with
everyone I came into contact with--hairdressers, baristas, whoever. I've longed for an American version since then, and my wishes are coming true!
I've posted the casting flier above, and I expect you all to get right on this! (I hear they're especially hoping for more male applicants, if you're of that persuasion.) I can't wait to see how this all develops.
Will you be trying out?
Did you know that the second season of the Great British Sewing Bee is currently screening? I too am a great fan of the show.
ReplyDeleteYes, but I've been unable to find it online except on BBC UK, which is only available to UK viewers. Please let me know if you are aware of another option!
DeleteYou could use a tunnel bear - I live in Australia and we miss out on a lot down here. Tunnel bear give you super easy access no matter where you live: https://www.tunnelbear.com/

Thanks all! Glad someone posted these. I know what I'm doing this weekend...
DeleteI am doing an application for the British season 3 - wish me luck!
DeleteAmazing! It's currently the best show on UK TV! They do such a great job at finding good contestants.

What tri-state area is being referred to here?
ReplyDeleteNY--NJ--CT I believe
DeleteYes, I sent an email about auditioning. Now I'll wait and see what happens.
DeleteSomeone has put the first 3 episodes on YouTube. Great venue in a warehouse on the east end of London. Hi from Germany! Vivian
ReplyDeleteDo you plan to apply or are you too little an amateur for this?
ReplyDeleteOooh! How exciting!
ReplyDeleteGertie, use Chrome and Hola Unblocker to get BBC UK.
ReplyDeleteNot a chance but I'll watch it if I can get my hands on it. That said if your not too much of a pro I think you should.
ReplyDeleteI think the big question everyone will want to know is whether or not we'll be seeing you on this program ;)
ReplyDeleteIf I was in the right area I'd go for it! But unfortunately Massachusetts is just outside their area. :( But love the British version and hope they translate it well.
ReplyDeleteThe dress made by David in the third episode is the same pattern as the dress I wore to work on Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteI'll be in when they do the "painstakingly slow" sewing competition lol...
ReplyDeleteI so wish the casting call was wider than the Tri-State area - I'd apply in a heartbeat! Maybe they'll do a Midwest version next . . .
ReplyDeleteThey're making one in France also! :) The casting was a few months ago and it's supposed to air in September. I love the original, I can't wait to see the French and American versions (hope they keep them drama-free).
ReplyDeleteOh,i was on the casting in France, and it's for september, but unfortunately i didn't felt well in february for the shooting:maybe better for next season!
DeleteOh, I would love to join but Belgium isn't exactly the states.. But I'll keep an eye on your blog and you tube, very exciting! Good luck!

I wish I lived out there! I would totally try out!! And 100 hours to make a dress? Seriously?? Who does that!?!
ReplyDeleteDearest Gretchen---- when I heard that the Bee was casting US I immediately thought that it just wouldn't be complete without YOU! Please tell us that you're trying out!
ReplyDeleteGertie if you have an ipad you can change your wifi setting so your ipad thinks it's in the UK so you can watch UK iPalyer. I do it on mine so I can watch US Netflix and indulge in Mad Men! If you don't have an ipad there are other ways, just let me know!
ReplyDeleteI love the Sewing Bee too and look forward to watching it with my Mum every week. The judge in the amazing suits is a highlight! XxxX

Oh grief, that's tempting. I don't feel like I've quite built up the skill for that just yet though. A year from now perhaps, but right now, I'm afraid I'd be like a sick koi in a piranha tank.
