Oh my goodness, I had the best time experimenting with pintucks this week! Come see my Stitch-Along post at STC Craft and pick up some tucking tips. I can't wait until I have time to pintuck all of the floral silk organza (pictured above) and make it into a pretty frock. That will be a LOT of pintucking, my friends.
I also made a plaid effect. I can't decide which I like best! You?
I love the plaid on the floral print - very unexpected! Can't wait to see what you do with it.
ReplyDeleteI saw the other post earlier today. Pinned it on my pinterest sewing board and made myself a note to get a pintuck foot for my machine! I had no idea there was such a foot, but it'll make things soooooo much easier. Thanks for the great post!

The plaid looks great. It would look wonderful in a skirt.
ReplyDeletenice pin-tucks!
ReplyDeleteSorry for this off topic comment but I saw this dress that Dita is wearing and I thought of you. I also enjoy the humor and fashion at this site so check it out if you haven't. They are very funny.

Love that striped pin tuck effect. I'm inspired to play around and see what I can come up with now!
ReplyDeleteDo you have to use pintuck foot? I made a button-down shirt with pintucks that I designed but I didn't use a foot...I spaced them about 1/2 inch apart... yours look closer than that? :)
ReplyDeleteHave you tried crooked pintucking? You still use the pintuck foot, but make the fold curve and bend. It is delicious, and the prressure is off re: sewing deadly straight, evenly spaced lines.
ReplyDeleteThese looks awesome! If you really add lot of pin tucks, do you know if you need to add size allowances?
ReplyDeleteBoth are ever sew lovely :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the classic spaced pintucking on the bodice, and the plaid pintucking on the skirt. Or maybe just in a band along the hem of the skirt! So cute on that organza. I'm ordering a pintucking foot pronto.
ReplyDeleteI love both the stripe and plaid pintuck. Using one rather than the other would depend on what effect might be needed - slimming or accentuating. I hope you are able to use both in the final garment. There are so many design possibilities!
ReplyDeleteLove how you remind us of sewing techniques to rev up our sewing experience.
Plaid! Love!
ReplyDeleteThat floral silk organza is really especially lovely pintucked. I feel the treatment sets the fabric off somehow and makes it nicer than it would be just left plain.
ReplyDeleteLove it!! It would look lovely in a frock dress :D

Both versions have their charms... so pretty, now I wanna play with pintucks too!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I do love it, and am inspired!
ReplyDeleteI like the fabric on the top. I love this look and had no idea it was so easy! I sew for my 3 year old daughter, and I could think of a million ways to use this! I think I need a pintuck foot right now!!
ReplyDeleteLove the plaid!
ReplyDeleteI love the plaid effect, this is very pretty on your fabric! I will try this technique for sure.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the plaid as much.
ReplyDeleteBoth are ever so pretty, although I think I can visualise the stripes in a garment more than I can with the plaid. There are pintuck machine feet, you say? Interesting...
ReplyDeleteI´d go with the stripes.
ReplyDeleteLap said exactly what I would have said, pin tucking on top and the plaid as a band around the skirt, I think that would look fab!
ReplyDeleteGee, I love them both. The plaid is very interesting, but for a garment, I think I would go with the vertical tucks only. I think the plaid would work for an great accent!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to start tucking myself!
Your post inspired me (as they usually do); I stopped to buy a pintucking foot on my way home just now. Can't wait to experiment.
ReplyDeleteI love the plaid! So rich looking and interesting, I love pin tucks anyway but this is too cool!
ReplyDeletei love pintucks and my pintuck feet. I especially like to pintuck a few rows around the bottom of a smocked baby's dress.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, I saw a girl wearing a white skirt that had chevroned pintucks. It was so cute! It's in my mental inspiration file. :)
ReplyDeleteCan't decide which I like better (plaid vs. straight pin-tucks). Both would be lovely I guess it just depends on the project!
ReplyDeleteI think the plaid pintucks are adorable. I would love to have/make a dress out of that fabric!
ReplyDeletePlaid. I love the juxtaposition of the swooping floral with the structure of the plaid. The pintucking ads a great layer of interest that's suprising subtle. I'm amazed that the floral is left looking intact.
ReplyDeleteBoth are impressive! The plaid is cute though and I love the fabric!
ReplyDeleteThe plaid is beautiful, but I really love the vertical tucks. It was so great to meet you in person!!!!
ReplyDeleteI really miss the daily blog!
ReplyDeleteThe first one. The plaid is too much.
