ReplyDeleteGood Morning Gertie,
ReplyDeleteI tried the shirring across a bust line of a summer swing dress. Since I'm very full figure on the top, the shirring was perfect to customize the fit. I went to Pacific Trim and bought the elastic thread, you find everything in that store but you need help to find it. I have a 2600 Elna and had no issues getting a smooth stitch.
Just to share. I usually put in the loops with snaps on the the inside shoulder of all my dresses. In the past I bought pairs of them sold by Dritz for $3. In Pacific Trim, I found the same thing sold by the yard for $2 a yard and you get for pairs. Better yet it come in black, white with plastic snaps and black satin ribbon with metal snails. The metal snaps are great when you have a heavier gown, like sequins etc.the discovery made my weekend.
Wow, thanks so much Gertie! And thanks to Denise as well! I can't wait for my fun prizes to arrive. This will be my first vintage pattern, and I love that it's rated easy since I've only been sewing since Thanksgiving. This will be a perfect dress for our hot and sticky summers here in Atlanta! Thanks again!
