Christina Dress Peek

Readers, I have a weird superstition. I absolutely do not like to wear a garment before I've had a chance to photograph it and blog about it. What's that all about? Anyway, I just finished this Christina Hendricks-inspired dress last night so I could wear it to an event this evening. Hence, I'm wearing it to work (paired with a hot pink cardigan and matching suede pumps) and I haven't had a chance to share it with you yet. But here's a little sneaky iPhone blogging to put my superstitious mind at ease.

I had to lighten this photo up considerably to get the details in. (My skin is not actually that shade of Dita Von Teese porcelain.) But you get the point, I hope.

I'll take more pictures this weekend! And, of course, pattern and construction notes to come. Thanks for indulging me.

  5. You look hot, and the sneak peek shows lovely details... My jaws dropped though, because it's been such a short while since you blogged about making this dress. Inspiringly (or shockingly) quick! Paired with pink, I'm sure this dress looks smashing!!

  6. I'm the same way, but for a very real reason - I never get the thing ironed so precisely as when it's right off the machine. So the best looking photos are the "never been worn" ones!

Well, the best detail ones - the very best ones are the in-action-at-a-great-party shots, I'm looking forward to yours!

  8. Love how it sits on your chest, offering glimpses of the tattoos underneath, but with a clear porcelain skin neckline (OK, I know it's the lighting, but still!). So very sexy! Anyway, can't wait to see the full thing. And have fun tonight!

  14. I don't photograph an outfit before wearing it out in public, but I do feel a little apprehensive the first time...almost as if I'm afraid everyone can tell I made it myself. I think I need to boost my "Seamstress Self Esteem!"

Great job on the dress, it looks fabulous!!! Looking forward to more pictures.

  16. I am catching up on reading your posts that I've missed, and I just want to say that I really appreciate that you share your knowledge with us. I am learning so much that I know will be a big help. I am especially thankful since I don't have the time to seek out this knowledge and go to classes, if they were available in my area, because of having small children. I love your recent articles on double knits lapped zippers. Your blog helps to fill the holes in my education. It helps those of us who don't have moms, grandmothers and friends who sew to guide us and answer our questions
